Vehicle Ownership Transfer in Thailand (DLT Coordination)
What "transfer" means
Ownership transfer is the process of changing the registered owner of a vehicle in the green book. It is completed at the Department of Land Transport (DLT). The seller and buyer (or their representatives) must be present with the required documents — including TM16 for foreign owners. Once complete, the green book shows you as the legal owner.

Frequently Asked Questions
- How long does vehicle ownership transfer take at DLT Bangkok?
When all documents are prepared and the seller is present (or a representative), transfer can be completed in a single DLT visit — often a few hours. Delays are almost always caused by missing or inconsistent documents. We confirm readiness before your visit.
- Can a foreigner's name go directly on the Thai green book?
Yes. When ownership transfer is completed at DLT, the green book (ทะเบียนรถ) is updated to the foreign buyer's name. TM16 must be filed as part of this process. We coordinate both.
- Does the seller need to be present for vehicle transfer?
Yes — the registered owner (or their authorized representative with power of attorney) must be present at DLT for the transfer. We coordinate seller communication and confirm attendance as part of our buyer-side service.
- What if the seller does not have all the required documents?
We identify missing documents before transfer day through our document readiness check. If the seller cannot provide required paperwork, we advise you on your options before you commit to payment.
